These Credit Cards May Come In Handy If You Are Quarantined
Since the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a public health emergency, many travelers have canceled or rescheduled upcoming trips. Others have continued to travel for various reasons—some travel simply can’t be avoided, and in any case there’s only a handful of countries that public health authorities recommend avoiding at this.
Because this strain of coronavirus presents a rapidly changing situation, it’s important to know what options you have if you run into problems during your journey—whether because your travel itinerary results in an unexpected quarantine, or because you actually become sick while away from home. That’s where credit card travel protections come in—if you have the right credit card, you might have more options than you realize.
Note: In this article, we focus primarily on benefits offered by Chase and American Express, since they offer the most comprehensive travel benefits. (Citibank cards used to offer travel benefits, but discontinued them in September 2019.) Regardless of your card issuer, make sure to check the terms and conditions of your card’s guide to benefits before relying on any of these services.
